DI'm enthusiastic about the power of the web to communicate and provide everyone a voice. The elusive promise of "Web 2.0" is not just about making money (although many people will) and it's not just about finding new voices who resonate better with the times than old ones (although they are out there!). It's about a new way of looking at the world and how to be noticed.
Everything's a conversation, now. That means figuring out what to say and how to get the right people to listen.
Search engine rankings are one of the currencies of this space, which is why I also work with clients to optimize their site for Google, Yahoo and others.
My interests on-line and off are varied: media, design, politics, the environment, science fiction. Several of these I share with my spouse, Kevin, and we discuss them in other portions of the site. Here you will find some samples of my design work and photography from my graduate work
in Media Studies at the New School. You'll also find some fiction and non-fiction writing samples.
For more current writing, check out my blog, Debbie's SM Survey. It'll keep you up to date on some of my current thoughts about the state of social media. Please also follow me on Twitter. In the past I was an occasional contributor to blog of the Center for Citizen Media, a non-profit that promotes and provides guidelines for citizens interested in citizen media and citizen journalism, in all its many guises.
