A We spend a lot of spare time - and money - trying to make the world a better a place.
This section is a work in progress, and there are too many good causes to list them all. Here are some immediate issues to act on:
A few days ago, Al Gore announced a challenge: An economy based on clean, renewable energy within 10 years. Not only is this possible, but it will provide lots of American jobs and spur innovations that will lead to technologies we can't even imagine now. We can solve it -- join us!
Our webhosting company, Dreamhost, has purchased carbon offsets to compensate for the energy they use.
The neighboring city of Brookline held a Climate Action day on June 23, 2007. Debbie created a short video out of some of the proceedings. Click to play:
It's election season! We believe Barack Obama will be an excellent President and will put our country back on track. There are many ways to get involved. Visit BarackObama.com to find out more.
There are also Congressional and local elections, with many excellent candidates up for election and re-election. Locally, we'll be helping State Representative Carl Sciortino maintain his seat against a primary challenger.
Nationally, we've contributed to some candidates like Darcy Burner in Washington State and Congresswoman Donna Edwards, who won a special election in June to represent Maryland's 4th Congressional district.
2008 Election Dates:
Primary (Massachusetts): September 16th, 2008.
General Election: November 4, 2008.
We've won the fight for marriage equality in Massachusetts, but California is the next battleground, with an amendment that would ban same-sex marriage on the November ballot. Contact Equality for All and let your family and friends in California know that you support equality.
